I have eaten sweets whenever I wanted since I had surgery. I don't remember

at this point how much I was eating at what point. Much of the early months

are all a fog now. I loved my sweets preop and I still do post op. Of

course my stomach cannot hold vast quantities of them. There is stuff in the

house that goes rotten before I eat it. Sometimes I think I just need the

comfort of knowing that I can eat it if I chose to. This is in accordance

with " no diet " philosophies like in Overcoming Overeating, Breaking Free, and

Seven Habits of Slim People. I do always get plenty of protein in each day.

I probably would have or still would lose more weight if I eliminated sugar,

but I am happy where I am. If you want to " maximize " weight loss, keep

sweets to a minnimum during the weight loss people However, if any kind of

food " type " restriction doesn't work for you (as for me), then you will

still lose weight with the ds, just not " maximized " to the very last pound.

I will note however, that I don't drink high sugar liquids such as regular

pop or juices. I never liked them much preop and I still don't like them

now. I do put sugar in my coffee, but have recently tried to switch over to

splenda. However, if I find it ruins my love of coffee in the morning

(important to me to start my day) then I will just revert back to sugar and

not beat myself up over it.

Keep in mind that your sweet tooth will probably change after surgery. I

ate ice cream like it was going out of style.....every day loaded with

marshmellow sauce etc and today I can not stand the taste of it anymore! I

also liked apple juice alot but now its too sweet and I must dilute it with

water.

However, if I want a cookie, a piece of cake, Krispy Kreme donut etc I dont

deny myself! I just dont eat them every day., I dont even need to make a

conscious effort not to buy them or eat them becuz I just do not crave them

like I used to.

So.......know you can have those cookies, cake, fritos, whatever, after

surgery as long as y ou eat your protein first!

Sugar will be absorbed 100% so count how much sugar calories are in

those items. That is how many calories you will absorb more in a day.
