Guest guest
Sher and Bruce.. You are absolutely right!!!When Mike had his knee replacement I spoke to the Social Worker who sets up the home care. I made it very clear that I could not do the normal "spouse" stuff at all. She set up in home care for Mike for his personal needs in addition to the PT and OT. A visiting nurse came for 3 weeks( 3X weekly) to take his vitals and redo the bandages and do blood work Mike was able to take over his own stuff after about a week and he sent the home health aid packing! The PT came for about 3 weeks and then Mike was allowed to drive to outpatient PT. I just did what I could. My kids were wonderful as were friends who brought over many dinners. Neither is rehab or skilled nursing. Other services may be tied into income, but home health care is a matter of condition and need. Don't let them think that you are at home to take care of him. Make sure they know you are disabled and assume you're not even capable of things you may be, but probably shouldn't be doing. That way you get loving time with him while others do some of the tasks. Oh, and don't say "Lysa will do this or that." Get what you are entitled to and then you and family can do whatever else is required. > > > > > > Thanks ever so much for > > telling me about the group you started.
