Thank you for your replies. I learned alot, which I

love to do... History is my favorite subject and

Jewish history is fascinating. (my friend who

converted) has told me so much about the various

holidays and traditions. My family wasn't religious

at all and I ended up going to several different

churches while growing up - all but one were

Protestant.

I did attend Temple for Chris' wedding. It was

wonderful. I got to see the smashing of the glass and

everything! And the dancing! I loved it when she was

in the air in the chair!!! And the music was so good

- my favorite was a piece of music I call the " Geritol

song " because I used to hear it in Geritol

commercials.

I remembered something else. The first Christmas in

my apartment was really special to me. I bought the

tree, lights, ornaments, etc. When it came time to

put the lights on, I was confused! My brother always

did the lights at Mom's home so I never paid

attention. And the lights go on first so I was stuck!

Couldn't put anything else on the tree until those

darn lights went up.

I called a friend in a nearby apt and she and another

neighbor came over. We had a few drinks and they put

up my lights. They were so excited because this was

their first Christmas tree too - they were Jewish and

had never had one! They loved it because they

participated in the fun and then got to go home!

I tried to talk them into getting a tree for

themselves. Heck, they could just call it a Hanakah

(sp?) tree! But, in the end, they didn't do it - it

was too foreign for them. They did visit me several

times, though, just to see " our " tree.
