Guest guest
Hi , I don't know that we ever " broke " the news to . He was 2.5 when we started his shots, and he gets so many meds that it was just another med we give him. is still getting monthly Synergis shots, and he gets them in his thighs. These shots are traumatic for him. He gets one shot in each thigh, and the sites often bleed, and bruise afterwards. He freaks about us using his thighs for his GH. We've been mostly using his arms, although his mom gave him his GH in his butt the other night, and said that it went well! LOL doesn't protest the shots in his arms, and we pretty much just do them in a matter-of-fact way. We always do them when he's awake. I totally understand your feelings towards the shots. Ask anyone at the convention last year, I was a basket case! LOL I've been able to handle everything else that B needs done (venting, button changes, meds), so I should have felt confident that I could do this too, right??? NOPE!! And to be totally truthful here, it's taken me a LONG time to get comfortable with giving B a shot. In the beginning I would get shaky, break out in a cold sweat, feel clammy all over, it was awful!! My stomach would flip, as I pushed the plunger in, and I was sure that I was going to lose my cookies!! The good news?? It's gotten better! A WHOLE LOT better!!! I just forced myself to give the shots, didn't allow myself ANY excuses. I kept telling myself that I HAD to do what was BEST for B, and I am now totally comfortable with it! It took a while to get to this point, so don't worry if it's not " all better " for you in a week, or a month, because it WILL get better!! Just keep on doing it!! Hopefully you'll get better and faster growth than we have! I was all ready to go out and get tons of new clothes and shoes for B. Unfortunately, it hasn't been necessary!! B IS growing, but it's not something that you see overnight, that's for sure!!
