When they did her blood work, her blood sugar was a little low, but okay, however her white blood count was pretty high so we ended up staying the night at the hospital to get plenty of fluids and an iv antibiotic. In the process of this whole ordeal we found a new ped. He was the same one that treated her for pneumonia last january when we had to go to the er b/c our regular ped sent aubrey home saying she had a cold. So i guess something good came out of it. She's feeling much better now fully rehydrated and back to her onrey self. Tonya mom to Aubrey Graham wrote: I agree, get some 7-up or sprite in your child. Check the blood sugar again soon. (15 min-30min) Don't let it drop any futher. With a sugar that low, your child will " sleep " and the sugar will keep dropping if you don't anything in. Low blood sugar makes them lethargic. And 44 is way to low. At the ER they will may be a bit snooty and ask what you tried do far. Hope your pediatrician calls soon. Soda will settle a stomach enough usually to hold down very small amounts, like a tablespoon every five minutes or so. You could also put gel icing in her cheek. If you can't keep her sugars up at home you need to go to the hospital for a D10 IV. It is VERY important her sugars do not drop. I would go to the ER right now. Good Luck! I know many of your children have issues with their blood sugar, so I thought if anyone you guys/gals could be of some help in this area. I've always suspected Aubrey had bs issues, but mainly just fed her pretty frequently, but today she is throwing up everything. I've called her ped, but am waiting for him to return my call. Well I checked her bs mainly out of curiousity b/c aside from throwing up she just wasn't acting like herself. It was 44. My question is: Is that too low. I know it would be in adults, but wasn't sure if it was the same or if pediatrics had a different set of norms. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Right now she is asleep so hopefully I'll have a few vommit free moments to myself. Thanks, Tonya mom to Aubrey --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Read only the mail you want - Yahoo!
