Guest guest
Sheryl asks: Hi, I've been wondering if I should hire an aide for my upcoming surgery at Mt Sinai, but don't really want someone I don't know hanging about the room. Can you tell me in what ways was the aide invaluable? What did he/she help you with? Did they stay in the room with you the whole time? Thank you, Sheryl --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Sheryl! The aides helped me alot since the nurses were kind of scarce. They got me ice chips if needed, tracked down nurses if I had a problem, helped me get up out of the bed, helped me take a shower, gave me cream for my dry hands, brushed my hair, and most importantly, helped me wipe after I used the bathroom. I had packed a nice bag with my hospital stuff in it, and my husband was going to bring it the next day, but since it was sept 11th, he could not get into the city...thus, no goodie bag. It was also nice to know that there was someone there to watch over me if there had been a problem. Oh, yeah...she even took me on walks around the nurses desk...a very important aspect of recovery is to walk, walk, walk. Hope this helps. ****Peace and Love***** in N.Y.
