Aetna and Surgery

The thing to remember about Aetna is that they will cover the distal

gastric bypass, but not the actual duodenal switch or sleve

gastrectomy. If you surgeon had written the request differently you

might have received partial approval.

You are probably right that appealing to your husbands former

employer is a long shot.

Regarding the waiting period: There is no waiting period for pre-

existing conditions as long as you have been continously covered.

Don't let the COABRA lapse until your new coverage starts! At most a

company may have you wait until the first of the following month to

get coverage. Don't worry about your husbands new employer, they

cannot discrimante or harass your husband based on your medical

situation.

When does your husband start his new job, and what is the new

insurance. Check for any WLS exclusion clauses in your husbands new

insurance contract.

If the new insurance looks bad, you can try switching to Dr. Anthone,

as he has a proven track record in getting Aetna to at least

partially approve.

Are you on the list " DS-Insurance_Authorization_Problems " ?
