Guest guest
Was wondering about your experiences with nutritionists...Have they been helpful?Well, the first one I had worked at UNC, and she just told me to eat ice cream and peanut butter a lot to gain weight. So that was stupid. But now I'm going to Duke and my nutritionist there respects the SCD and reviewed my food diary, and suggested that I take the freeda multi, some extra freeda calcium, and try to add 200 extra calories every day. So, she was pretty helpful as far as making sure I get all the vitamins I need, but I haven't found a nutritionist who's actually knowledgeable in the SCD and can direct me in what foods I should be eating specifically. How did you find them? They just work with the GI doctors I've been to. Guest guest
Was wondering about your experiences with nutritionists... My experiences with nutritionists have mostly been like Debbie's. I think they are trained according to the current government food pyramid, I really do. There was one exception to this. The alternative doc I used to go to had a nutritionist who was there once a week, and SHE was good. She understood about genuine " real " food, allergies and other strange dietary limitations. My suggestion would be to see if you can find a holistic doc or a naturopath, perhaps, and call and see if they can recommend someone. Otherwise it's likely to be a waste of time and money, I fear.
