For what it's worth...and I'm not making any judgement or statement...just

quoting a regulation that we have to abide by in Canada.

" 7.15.7 Gluten-Free Foods [FDR, B.24.018, B.24.019] (Amended 31/01/97) A

food is not permitted to be labelled, packaged, sold or advertised in a

manner likely to create an impression that it is " gluten-free " unless it

does not contain wheat, including spelt and kamut, or oats, barley, rye,

triticale or any part thereof "

Unfortunately there are no regulations in the US.

>>> I see that they have a lot of fruits that are phenolic. Do you

think it is in amounts that could be a problem? How hard are they to

chew? karen w

Nice name! <grin>

I asked about the phenols and truly, the two people there did not

know one way or the other. I am getting some just to have a healthy

gummi snack without artificials around but we do not have a

noticeable phenol problem so I won't be any help there. Based on what

I know, I would say the gummies would still contain the phenolic

compounds. Nothing in their manufacturing process indicates the

phenolic part (the benzene ring) would be altered. If anything, it

would perhaps be more concentrated. Dried fruits are more phenolic

than fresh ones, and oils such as sesame oil are more phenolic than

the seeds because they are more concentrated.

I will ask the company directly, but I have a feeling it is one of

those many " you will just have to try it and see " things.

The enzymes are plant based enzymes so they will work in the gut

(animal enzymes are often degraded by the stomach acids). The were

very chewy and maintained their " chew " . Not hard, didn't dissolve

into sugar in your mouth, very fruity, no weird aftertaste, assorted

colors but the flavors were not wildly distinct, all kind of fruity.

Hope this helps,

.
