Guest guest
THe good news is the MRI results. Please feel comfortable knowing that age just turning 4 yrs old, not starting GH isn't a major horrible decision. OK? I don't want you worrying about that. You have a good year or so to still figure that out. As per the bone age, honestly, there are very few children ever that have a bone age advance more than a year in only 10 weeks chronological time... and rarely at her age. I am guessing that the bone age was possibly read by different people? Why did they do a second bone age only 2 1/2 months after the first one? It is important to do bone ages about once a year, and try and have them read by the same person each time -- this allows for consistently. Bone ages are a human-manual process. The doctor takes your child's x-ray and compares about 20 different spots on the x-ray to a book that has an x-ray of different ages, and they match where your child's spacing is on the 20 points. Then those 20+/- measurements are entered into a computer program, which then calculates out an overall bone age. Hence, you can see that consistency is key. One specific person will typically measure pretty consistently over time (e.g., they may be off several months from another person's measurements, but their OWN measurements year after year will be consistent). Hope I am making sense - I don't even know if I understand it, HA! Jenn > > Hello, > na had her MRI on Tuesday. The cyct is fine and has not grown > any more on her hip. Guest guest
Hi Marcy I'm glad na's cyst hasn't grown. Like Jenn Salem said, maybe two different people read the bone age? Have you made an appointment to meet Dr. H or are you waiting until convention? We are somewhat in the same position wtih , wait and see if she grows any. Dr. H has us coming back in three months from our last visit. B 5 and Kelli 2 1/2 kirkconley1011 wrote: Hello, na had her MRI on Tuesday. The cyct is fine and has not grown any more on her hip. Her bone age ( can't rember if I'm repeating myself) was 2yr6months november 16, 2004. Her bone age now is 3yrs 6 months feb 4,2005. Is that normal? Her thryroid test came back with in normal limits. After the reseach we did we were not going to growth hormones, then they said she would be 3ft9 to 4'6 so we decided to them as soon as we could. I hope to go see Dr. H and she can say listen to Dr quack (my husbands name for him. mine is shovenisic male ) or do this. My nephew who is 2.5 years younger than her is now 3inches taller than her. My niece is 6 months now in the pic with na. She seems to be growing quickly. Now we are waiting the results of the pituitary gland. We see at the end of the month. She is 4 now and i feel that we have lost time because I listened instead of fighting for her when she was an infant throwing everyday being told it's normal, she's a girl it's better to be small,She takes after her father, she's healthy just breathing funny every once in a while....... Have a good week end everyone. Marcy na's mom brianna 27lb 35inches
Guest guest
Thanks, I think they did the bone scan because she has been complaining of leg pain. It was done at the same place but I will find out if it was read by the same person. Thanks again Marcy na's mom Brock wrote: THe good news is the MRI results.
