BJ.... I know, my new laptop is difficult for me too. I'm told there is 'something' on Vesta that sweeps a post away. I've discovered that often it's on the bottom, right out from start. Click there and it all comes back. I've retyped more than I want to, too.

Sher, I hate this laptop. I keep typing long posts and they disappear into cyberspace before I get to send them. So I will just say that I was depressed and scared and thinking that no one cared. i just checked the control panel

in control panel find the icon or word that says "mouse"

when you click on mouse, you get "mouse properties"

the touchpad is in there

my computer has an icon in there

i clicked on the touch pad icon

then i clicked on "device select button settings"

and found the check box to disable the touchpad while using the mouse

my computer is a Dell with Vista

but you should be able to find something in the control panel regarding the mouse and the touchpad

BJ... I'm not sure what you are needing your mouse to do but I discovered a little "paw print" light directly over my pad. (HP laptop, Vesta). Push the little toggle and it will disable the mouse while you are typing.

This may not be helpful to you but I was sure glad to find it.

If you are typing a long post and it dissappears in the middle. Instead type it in microsoft word and then open the post and copy/paste it to the post. It saves a lot of agravation.
