Febrile seizures are hereditary. My husbands brother had them as a

child and all three of my children had them, including my RSS son. A

child usually grows out of them by age 6. I just made sure that my

kids fevers were always kept under control with alternating tylenol

and motrin. I kiss my kids foreheads every night when they go to bed,

just to check for a fever. I was told by our neurologist that febrile

seizures unlike grand mal seizures do not cause damage, so most

doctors do not treat them.

I had seziures multiple times daily until I was about 13 years old. I was never

put on anything for them because they weren't THAT bad. My ped. called them

" passing out spells " or " breathholding " so it wouldn't interfer with me getting

my lisence. I've been seizure free for almost 3 years now (I am 22). hope this

helps.

Hello,

You poor thing my thoughts and prayers go out to you guys.

I haven't had to call 911 but have brought na to the ER to find out she had

a whopping ear infection. I can sympathize too. I felt like an aweful mother.

how could I not know she had an ear infection, I'm her mother but the ER doctor

said you say she has a high threshold of pain, this would be an example and

don't beat your self up. I couldn't believe there is a nice ER doctor that

actually listens to the parent. He said if it was his ears he would be a

screaming meme.We have also gone to healthy appointments where her doctor has

said Mrs. Conley na ears are infected. na never touches her ears so I

too wonder how long it has been. Just recently she rubbed her neck and I called

the doctor he thought i was crazy to ask to be seen but when we got there she

had an ear infection. It is always on the left side. She gets build up on the

right ear which they have had to take out. We saw a ENT who was wonderful but we

have not had to have anything done as of yet for them. Good

luck.

Neither of my daughters show signs of ear infections don't know if tats a good

thing or not. But my nice just turned 2 and she gets those seizures every time

she gets a fever even a low one now it has been going on for about a year and

she does not have RSS. Well hope you all are ok now. They did give my sisterNlaw

I think shots of morifin to get her out of the seizure when it is a bad one. She

has had all kinds of test run and they have all come back normal so the DR's are

puzzled on why she gets them.

Saturday night 911

Hey Guys! It's been about two weeks since I last posted. I've been

busy throwing Crosby's 1st birthday party. We had a big scare this

past Sat. night. At midnight Crosby woke up crying as he often does

so I made him a bottle and went into his room. When I picked him up

he was curled up in the fetal postion, shaking crying/screaming as if

scared or in pain in short wails, a little warm, and his whole body

was stiff in that position. He would not straighten out. I thought

he was just mad because it took a while for me to get to him. I

tried to give him the bottle and he bit down hard on the nipple and

his eyes rolled back in his head. I knew something was wrong and we

decided to take him to the ER. While dashing around trying to get

our other child up to go, I noticed that his hands were turning blue

and he was grunting as if he wasn't getting enough oxygen. I called

911 because at that point I didn't want to risk the ride to the ER

without help. The ER doctor said that he had a febrile seizure due
