Vitamix Question

I have a fp, also a little prep thing that can supposedly do anything that I haven't tried so I'm not 'without'.

But I keep seeing things on Vitamix including an email from amazon this morning.  What type do you guys use and is it really worth the 400$?

Just the model number if you have one to go on my wishlist.  I'd really like to keep it on the backburner.

Thanks,

THe full model is definitely worth the money. My parents own a Vitamix and have

had it for more than 5 years, and the blender still works! It chops/blends

veggies and fruit so smooth -- it's like drinking juice (pulp and all). It's

fantastic. I want to buy one (even though I own a Kitchen Aid Food Processor).

Debbie,I have a Vita-Mix 5000. I really like it for those things that are tough or chunky but you need them to be super smooth. I do nut pancake batters, smoothies, soups, nut butters etc. in it. Some call it a glorified blender, but there are times when that is what you need and I do use mine regularly and it works better than any other blender I have owned. So, it would depend on the kinds of things you think you would need it for and how often. I will say that I am disappointed that I can't use the dry jug to grind nuts into flour, but they are just too oily. I do use it to make dried fruit and/or veggie powder though.AmeliaTo: btvc-scd <BTVC-SCD >; SCDiet Sent: Wed, May 12, 2010 11:19:25 AMSubject: Vitamix Question

Thanks, it's just on the backburner for now.  I just wondered how well they work.
