Guest guest
Beth - Glad to hear the 'boot camp of rehab' is going well for you and yes, I see similar cases here in Utah. Kind of humbles you when you see the ones who are worse of at this stage and how they work so hard. It is inspirational. I am completing week 3, my halfway point. I have a 6 week program because I am part of an exercise study group. I have diet and OT components to mine as well. Just not as extensive as yours. Next week we start incorporating the home exercise. I still come in 3 days a week, but am expected to do 2 at home and the week after that, 3 at home. I will be ramping everything up as I adjust to each level. I will not start the weight component at home until my last week. Right now (next week) I will only be adding the aerobic home exercise. I talked to my pulmo from National Jewish and he said I am to consider that my prescription. DO NOT MISS A DAY... EXERCISE 6 DAYS A WEEK UPON COMPLETION. I am working up to the return to the pool. I did work out in Denver in the pool and I will again here. Just have to find a facility that will let me bring in oxygen. A step I do not want to take until I am stronger on land with exercise. Not biting off more than I can chew until I am ready. I feel so much better, happier, healthier with exercise. Finding out some interesting oxygen needs as well. I need more oxygen for the aerobic exercise ( 6L ) than the weight resistance anaerobic ( less than or equal to 3L ) . They are encouraging me to take on the flexibility and stretch component myself. Light yoga and pilates. Slow movements, rhythmic breathing. I absolutely love the encouragement and the heightened sense of well-being.
