the pylorus and duodenum intact with the distal common channel. I know

what I have read, and what others have cited to you, and the research

Nan, I totally agree with you. My consult with Dr. Oakley began with a

video by Dr. Hess explaining IN DETAIL how this surgery evolved, from the

Scorponio(sp) to what it is today. Then, when I met with Dr. Oakley in the

office, I had another detailed explaination of how this surgery works, how it

evolved, drawn with pcitures and explaining the differences and reasons for

doing it their way (BPD/DS) vs just the BPD and why they found it not

acceptable vs RNY and why they found it not acceptable. There is NO Doubt in

my mind about what procedure I would be getting from Dr. Hess or Oakley. I

would be so ANGRY if I were to see them TWO DAYS before my scheduled surgery

and they told me all of a sudden they changed the procedure. Sounds like

bait and switch to me, of the most offensive type - because, after all, this

is your life and lifestyle and life choices we are talking about here, not a

different TV or dishwasher!!!! Why did the surgeon wait until TWO days

before to spring this on the patient? So she wouldn't have time to change

surgeons? Sounds suspect to me.

If we (the collective " we " here and " me " specifically) didn't care about our

after surgery life-style, why would we even be on this list? Why would we

even be doing any research? We CARE Big Time. That is why we are here.

That is why we feel compelled to warn someone BEFORE surgery. It is too late

after surgery.
