Elle,

I could say a lot of the same things about myself. The biggest reason I had

surgery was because I was having physical problems that were only getting worse.

I want to be able to play with my kids and be alive as they grow (they are 2 &

3).

Elle,

Thank you for sharing I happen to agree with you about everything you said about

yourself!!!! and I also think it would be nice for us all to remind ourselves of

our worthiness...Its funny I was talking to a Nurse (a beautiful person both

inside and out) And she told me " The reason you had this surgery is because deep

down inside you know that you are worth fighting for and MO is an enemy but

with a tool like the surgery you can win " Mind you this is a woman who works at

the organization I work at but here was someone who for all intents and purposes

doesnt have to agree with such a " drastic " procedure and she understood it now

if the rest of society could just get it!

ANYTHING that anyone on here has said...

but it is a statement regarding myself (and more than that...to myself) ....

I did not gain weight to keep other people away. I enjoy intimacy... not

distance.

I am not lazy. I am motivated and I accomplish a great deal. Sometimes I

have to cater my efforts to fit my health disabilities, but I would hold up

my skills, goals and achievements against most anyone my age.

I am not mentally ill or psychologically pathological (as some research

studies APPEAR to indicate about MO people). I love my husband, my mother,

my father, all my brothers and sisters, and my son. I have lots of friends,

and I make friends fairly easily. I am a caring, passionate person and I

enjoy life.

I am not stupid, and I am not ignorant. My intelligence is in at least the

" bright " category, and I know as well as most any nutritionist what the

calories or fat grams in just about any piece of food is.

I do not hate myself; I do not think I am worthless. In fact, I tend to

think that I make a great friend, and generally think that people are lucky

to know me!

I could go on... but sometimes I need to remind myself of all the things I

am not... that other people sometimes think that I am.

Yes, I am a " round " person... but that is what I " look " like...not who I am.
