I find it incredibly amazing that the very people who got the DS because they

decided it was right for them don't care that their surgeon doesn't want to

do it anymore. Instead of caring about her future patients so they can have

the same opportunity that YOU had, you ask others not to judge the surgeon

and you still stick up for her. Incredible. And, sorry, but I will judge

when I think a surgeon is wrong.

Its my right to have a choice of the surgery I want. its the right of any

future Ren or patients to have the same choice. But you seem to

think it isn't, and since you already " got yours " it doesn''t matter.

You're right. But neither has Dr. Ren. I believe that quote came from Dr.

.

I know that the great Gagner has lost patient. What he hasn't done, to

my knowledge, is tell a patient that we DSers are a little too attached

to our pyloric valve, or that we " put them on a pedestal " . That attitude

is what bothers me more than anything.

Nick,

I don't dismiss every bit of information. What I do try to do is keep an

open mind and not be judgmental about people who choose to take a different

path than I did.

Re: Re: Amazing!

Marcia -

Have you read the information on Deb's site? We're not in a court of law

here. It clearly points out that there may be unexpected risks with the

fully lap DS.

I think that the method used to perform the procedure is what should be

being questioned, not the DS itself. It is a very complex surgery and

making it even more difficult by going fully lap may not make a lot of

sense.

Everyone loves their surgeon and I love mine as much as you love yours.

However, it is foolhardy to dismiss every bit of information that comes your

way that threatens your paradigm.

Best -

Nick

I confess. Guilty. I am *very* attached to my pyloric valve. In

fact, I am attached to it in my stomach and my teeny tiny duodenum

So blame my parents and sue me.

These are snips from the List from several posters:

" she had the traditional DS instead of the new one that Dr.

is doing " ;

" she got to her room about 2PM....groggy and in pain. "

" Lee Anne got the same version of the DGB as the previous 5

of us but Dr P mentioned to her

that she would be the last one to do so. "

Marty, I have seen this quote attributed to both Ren and .

Months ago, Deb attributed that quote to Dr. Ren. Now Lee Anne has said

she heard it from Dr. . Perhaps the two docs are pals and share

this sentiment.

Last Thursday I saw the surgeon (#2), I was determined I wanted the

RNY. He mentioned the DS and explained all about it. He told me to

go home and research it and decide which I wanted by this Thurs.

(25). He recommended duodenalswitch.com but it is down. So I

started reading everything else and came across this site. After

lurking several days, I must say for a SUPPORT group you do more

nitpicking and bickering than helping!!! I was looking for what to

expect after surgery, diet, restrictions etc., etc. There are some

very helpful posts but......... Please remember there are people out

here who need your help. I'm sure that was the intention when this

site was started. I think many people on here need to refocus on why

they came to this site and help each other. Carol Beam
