It isn't easy,

since the only thing that gets absorbed 100% is sugar, is you graze

constantly on sugar and carb treats all day, you can regain.>>>>>>>

right....its not easy . Mike and I graze most of the day on proteins and

carbs and it has not affected us any. Its been this way for us for the last

10 months. Mike eats alot of sweets but he also eats at least 100 grams of

protein a day. I talked to Dr Welker about this and he said as long as he

was getting enough protein and fruits and veggies and he was not gaining

then it wouldnt hurt......that doesnt mean he has given us permission to do

this just that it works differently for everyone, I guess.

Carole,

My understanding is that the no-snacking rule is a RNY thing.

I had my surgery with Dr. Anthone at USC. His nutritionist encourages eating

something every 2-3 hours in the beginning. This may change as the amount we

can eat at one time increases, maybe someone further postop can say. I last

saw her at my 3 month visit, so she may have different news for me when I see

her at the end of this month, although she did say that eating something

every few hours was best for everyone, even people who haven' t had surgery.

The RNYers on the other hand are very forcefully instructed not to eat

between meals and are told they will regain if they do not follow that

instruction.
