Guest guest
You obviously know what is best for Mercedes but I was going to just mention to give the " sleep through " teeth pulling some thought. I know we run additional risks when a child is put under. Mercedes is 6 now and you might be able to work with her more easily. Adam has had a large number of teeth pulled, in fact so has my non RSS daughter. I think the two of them have only had 3 teeth (combined) fall out on their own, the rest have been pulled. I have a small jaw and they both inherited that from me, (add to the fact that an RSS symptom is a smaller jaw size.......well poor Adam is getting a double whammy there!).....anyway, we pulled teeth to give room for the adults to come in straight and in the right spot. My daughter has perfectly straight and placed teeth now and we didn't have to use braces by using this technique. My point is, the tooth pulling is quite easy ONCE you get the freezing in. Depending on which teeth are being pulled, they often just pop out. To put them to sleep for literally a two second moment, seems like a lot. Now when Adam's eye teeth were pulled out, the roots had not dissolved. These were TWO huge teeth. They are incredible (to me it looked so large it must have been touching his eye ball!!!! LOL), he managed that with just freezing. Some of the baby teeth at the front of the mouth had no roots left but for some reason they just refused to give up their spot. Those are the easiest to remove. Can the dentist tell from an x-ray how much root structure is left? I don't know the answer to that one, but if they could, I would consider checking that before putting Mercedes to sleep. Like I said, the freezing needle is the worst part. For my daughter we used the laughing gas (I was afraid to use it with Adam) so we use a simple bribe " Let the doctor putting the tooth sleeping medicine in (we never called it a needle or freezing) and after I will take you to Toys R Us and you can buy anything you want " . It worked! Debby
