I personally haven't had any problems with bread or bagels -- I often will have deli meat on a toasted bagel with butter for a meal... BEfore that would have been more of a 'snack' than anything else! LOL I am unable to eat as much rice or potatoes as I used to --- I eat the protein first and still eat the carbs but just don't fill up on them like I used to. I don't really miss them because I do eat them, just not much of them! LOL I don't eat as much bread/bagels as I used to, either. I may have one every other day or so. Sometimes I just prefer to have the meat and cheese rolled up together rather than eating bread with the meal. I thought I'd never be able to drink coffee again... I didn't for the first three months or so post-op. I just didn't have any desire for it. Then, I started with my decaf again... lots of milk (I drink it au lait, actually) and sucra... I'm able to have an entire mugful in the a.m.! Wow! I thought I'd only be able to drink small cupfuls for the rest of my life. LOL I have noticed that I just don't like chocolate as I used to. I do have some on occasion (usually gravitating towards stuff with nuts and some protein like mini-Snickers bars or something) but really don't crave chocoate at all. It really doesn't taste so wonderful like I thought it did as a pre-op, either! I certainly haven't experienced any situation where I couldn't eat something post-op that I adored as a pre-op. Happily, I'm able to eat spicy stuff (Asian/Thai/Vietnamese) like I used to! Whew! That was a major concern of mine... And, I LOVE eating! It's such a relief to enjoy smaller portions, have a wide variety of flavors and nourish myself in style! :) all the best, TEresa lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. Gagner/Mt.
