Cara,

Thank you for your interest in the MAGIC Convention, and the RSS convention

scholarship fund. Every year the MAGIC Foundation sponsors a 3-day

convention which includes medical speakers specific to each of 11 specialty

divisions, social activities and networking sessions. Last year, over 1,000

people attended the convention (with more than 450 from the RSS division

alone). This year the convention is scheduled from Thursday evening July

21st through Sunday, July 24th, 2005, at the Chicago O'Hare Marriott Hotel.

You can go to www.magicfoundation.org <http://www.magicfoundation.org/> and

look up the convention presentation schedule. If you do not have internet

access, call MAGIC at 800-3MAGIC3, or email mary@... and ask

to have them mail you a hardcopy. We are expecting more than 120 RSS

families to attend this coming summer. The event is literally a

" one-stop-shop " for everything you can ever imagine to learn about RSS and

SGA issues, plus lots of networking and social time as well. In addition,

Dr. Madeleine Harbison does provide free consultations for families from

9:30am to 9:30pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday before the convention, and

on Saturday night. The visits are first come first serve based on

convention registration.

Childcare is provided at a nominal cost for both Friday's presentations and

Saturday mornings as well (and is provided free with a scholarship). Please

refer to the MAGIC Convention registration pamphlet for complete details.

If you are interested in attending the convention, and would like to apply

for a partial scholarship, please read the following steps. The scholarship

will cover your hotel room/tax/surcharge for Thursday-Saturday nights, and

your convention registration (including childcare and buffet dinners Friday

and Saturday nights).

1) Call MAGIC at 800-3MAGIC3 and ask for a registration package on this

summer's convention. Read through it all. (package is not available until

March 2005).

2) If you are interested in attending, you can contact MAGIC directly.

However, if you want to apply for a partial scholarship, please contact me

at either daycarney@... or . You need to mail me

either last year's or this year's federal tax return to: Dayna Carney,

13304 W. 112th Terrace, Overland Park, KS 66210. Make sure to give me your

phone number and email address, if you have one. Do NOT register for the

hotel or convention until AFTER I tell you how to do it with your

scholarship!!!! Scholarships are first-come first-serve so apply now!

3) Once I receive your tax info, I will notify you that you are

approved for the scholarship.

4) If you need help raising funds to cover your airline transportation,

we can help. It is EASY!!! Other families just like you have held

fundraisers to fund these scholarships. You too can fundraise to cover your

transportation costs. We have lots of families who have raised anywhere

from $200 to $2,000 to cover their convention expenses. We can provide you

with convention scholarship brochures that you can hand out to family,

friends and others. It describes the convention and the need for donations

to help families get to the convention. It has a tear-off donation form

that people can mail to MAGIC (tax-deductible donation) and a place where

they earmark their donation for your family. In addition, we have a list of

other easy fundraising things you can do to raise the money to pay for your

transportation. If you would like to do this, simply call MAGIC toll-free

at 800-3MAGIC3 and ask them to mail you whatever quantity of the brochures

you want (they will do this at no charge).

5) Once you are registered for the convention, we begin scheduling

" visits " with Dr. Harbison at the convention. After you register for the

convention, you will be mailed a form to fill out and return to confirm a

free visit with Dr. Harbison. Visits are scheduled first-come first-serve

based on registration date. Keep in mind that there are very few Saturday

visit slots; you may need to come in early for the convention in order to

see Dr. Harbison.

So.. make sure to contact me if you are interested in a partial scholarship

to the convention. The convention experience is one you will never

forget!!!
