Jo Ann, That's what's so confusing ... that one company can be such a blessing for some and such a total pain in the ass for others ) I'm glad to hear of 'goodness' affiliated with UHC, tho, because it may be the only other option for me if I can't win with Cigna. I keep telling myself that worst-case, I'll find a way to get the money and go to Dr. Baltasar in Spain. That would just kill me tho, because I feel my insurance company should pay, or at least help with the paying. UHC told me that to go to a DS surgeon would be covered 100% if there were no DS surgeons withing 30 miles (which there is not) and if the surgeon I chose was in-network. Would you believe that nearly every surgeon available (that I would chose to use, I should say) is in their network, except the one I chose!!! My luck. In that instance, they said they'd pay 30% of the charges provided they fall within the usual and customary range. I checked on that, and his charges are well within that range. My only concern then would be the hospital, which is actually in their network, but they pay based on whether or not the surgeon is. I would have to netotiate with the hospital that they accept UHCs payments or at least get some fixed figure. It would be so much easier if Cigna would just do what they need to do and approve me as they have others. I only have 8 more days to wait, but it feels like it'll be a lifetime !!!! I'm so glad everything went smoothly for you and am so glad you responded. I was starting to feel very defeated again, and that's not good. Thanks for posting Jo Ann.
