To everybody on this list, particularly those that Beth W says are

afraid to express themselves on this list 'for fear of criticism by

others who happen to be more in line with conventional medicine'.

I was addressed personally in Beth W's last message, which seemed to

suggest that I may be one of the list members causing this fear. For

this I apologise.

I have not meant to criticise anybody personally, just put across a

point of view on the information provided.

People that know me personally would laugh at the suggestion that I

am aligned with conventional medicine. Yes I have worked in

hospitals all over the world, from the streets of Calcutta, to elite

private hospitals in London. I have seen the best and the worst of

what some people call conventional medicine, however the suggestion

that I am in some way blinkered by this is hard to take. In fact

there are various alternative therapaies I have studied, and have

used alternative treatments often.

My husband and I looked carefully and seriously at the information

and links that Beth W provided. We also researched the background

and credentials of some of the experts that were quoted. Sadly it

appeared that, just like the drug companies and food suppliers,

these experts all appeared to have their own agenda, either to sell

a book, or promote their own ideas/diets, all of which results in

dollars in the bank for them.

We felt we had to respond negatively to the information, because and

have decided that it would not be in Liam's best interests. Liam is

100% tube fed, and if we were to use the diet recommended Liam would

become dangerously ill. This has been backed up by both conventional

and alternative therapists that have been involved with Liam for

some time and are familiar with his problems.

I understand the difficulty in deciding what is best for our

children. I applaud Beth W for finding something that works for

and her family. In making these decisions we must always

consider both the short term gains against the possible long term

consequences. These were the things we had to consider when recently

deciding to start Liam on growth hormone.

Lets continue to discuss anything that may benefit our children in

an open and friendly way.
