Guest guest
Hi All-Has anyone had (or heard of) a J Pouch created only to later be diagnosed with Crohn's? A friend of mine is in the hospital with this exact situation. I am going up there on Tuesday to talk to her about the SCD but the doctor's are telling her she may be looking at a permanent ileostomy. This all happened quite suddenly this year. She was diagnosed with UC, had a J Pouch created in December with a temporary ileostomy, had it taken down in March and then just landed back in the hospital with a new diagnosis of Crohn's.Clearly she doesnt want to have a permanent ileostomy and she is very open to starting the SCD. It just removes the part that is most affected. If you keep eating the way you did before the surgery (assuming that is SAD, with lots of starches), you will eventually redevelop the disease. So, whether your friend has surgery or not -- SCD is her best bet for avoiding further surgery. And SCD might prevent the current one, although that's obviously not a sure thing. <wry grin> In this case, homemade chicken soup is a very good thing! — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
