Guest guest
Great idea and I would love to participate. I think we all should include our insurance information as well! I had problems finding one in my area because so many doctors haven't kept up with the progress in WLS and so they are against it due to the old " booger stories " from the earlier surgeries. Could we add to one of the existing sites or could someone who knows how start a WLS friendly PCP doctor site? (I came across a " fat friendly doctor " site that helped me find my GYN.) It could be where you could search by state and then by city......I'd be willing to add my doctor's name....he is great!! Guest guest
Jerry, I think this is a really good idea. I don't know about anyone else, but until I found my current PCP, I avoided doctors like the plague. As a matter of fact, I hadn't been to the doctors office in over 6 years because it seemed that in the past no matter what I was there for the doctor would always " blame " it on my weight. (Even if I had the flu or a sore throat.) If the doctors were ever able to help me with my weight issues it wouldn't have been so bad, but I believe the majority of physicians really do not understand morbid obesity. They just keep telling us to loose weight. I strongly felt like the doctors thought I was blind/stupid/lazy etc. After all who would willingly weigh close to 400 lbs. and not try to do something about it. Anyway, a friend of my told me about her physician who was respectful and very knowledge about WLS. I saw him about 2 weeks ago for a urinary tract infection and told him that I was planning on having WLS after the first of the year. He was very supportive and I am actually looking forward to working with him again as I progress along this journey. ann Pre-op 391 consult with Dr. Ren 1/7/2002, anticipating to have surgery scheduled for February 2002 New web site WLS friendly docs?
