Guest guest
I had a similar thing happen to me. At about 2-3 weeks post-op I noticed the bottom of my incision was kind of oozing a little and looked like it was opened a little too. While I was looking at it, all kinds of puss and blood came out. I cleaned it really good and went to see my surgeon's nurse the next day. She tried to find the stitch, but it was too swollen. She told me what to look for and asked me to report back in a few days if it wasn't improving. After a couple of days, I did see the stitch popping through and I pulled it out. The spot healed within a few days and has given me no problem since. I did have a few more stitches pop through and cause minor problems, but nothing that would have caused me to go to the ER. I was told that some people are more sensitve to the stitches and it can also depend on the type of thread used. I hope that you don't have any more problems and it all heals up like mine did. Sorry to hear you had to suffer so much. Kathy M. DS 7/19/
Guest guest
Shelly, Stitch abscesses aren't too uncommon. My DH had some from his gallbladder removal. For some reason your body is rejecting the suture. In his case they came out one at a time from his belly button. He didn't have any pain. Just a inflamed lump that eventually opened and drained until the suture came out. It took about a year, but 3 sutures came out that way. One was still tied in a loop. Just keep the affected wounds as clean as possible. Rita Black
