Am I eating too much?

Hi everyone. I am almost 8 weeks post-op and have recently noticed

I'm able to eat more than I was previously. This morning I had a

fried egg on one piece of toast with 1/2 glass of milk. Is this too

much for 8 weeks post-op?

Up until 2 weeks ago, I was doing good to just eat one egg. At that

time I was getting approximately 500 - 600 calories a day in. Now,

I'm getting between 800 - 1100 a day. Is this too much this early?

The reason I ask is I've only lost 36 pounds total thus far. I'm

thrilled with the weight loss but have seen much higher losses at

this same time for others. Could it be that I'm defeating my surgery

by eating too much?

I had this same question about my eating.. you are a week ahead of me

and I can eat about the same at once, but not that much during the

day.. I think you have done well.. but that would depend on how much

you started out at.. the heavier you are, the more you will lose in

your first six months. Everyone here assured me that I was doing fine

and was on track.. relax and enjoy it..

Love

Sue

, 1 egg, toast and 1/2 glass of milk is not too much. I'm almost 6 weeks

post op and I've eaten more than that at a sitting. Like this morning, I had 1

egg with ham and cheese, 4oz. apple juice mixed with 4oz. water. I didn't feel

full so I had peanut butter on a saltine. The amt. of food you can eat will

fluctuate. Like, some mornings, I'll have 2 egg whites with bacon and cheese,

with 1/2 piece of toast. 1100 cal. per day is not too much. Remember, we won't

absorb all those calories. If you're hungry, EAT. The only thing we have to

watch is our sugar intake. I do have a little each day. I had THIS surgery so

I wouldn't have to deprive myself, diet, or obsess over how much food I've

eaten. Someone posted here that their surgeon describes the ds as being " a no

brainer " , in comparison to the rny being a " tool " . Try not to worry. 36 lbs

in 8 weeks might be really good, depending on your starting bmi. I'm not sure

if I'm going to make that. BTW, if you haven't already and you can, start

walking. THis will help to speed up the metabolism. Beth

Hi,

My name is Jody and I am 2 months post op and having the same

problem. First let me give you my stats:

Starting weight: 297 lbs.

Starting BMI: 53

My stomach started out at 6 ozs and I lost 33 lbs in the first 3

weeks. I had do complications in the beginning and didn't eat much.

Then Last week I weighed my self and was upset to find I had only

lost 5 pounds in 5 weeks. Now I can eat 9 to 10 oz at a meal.

I am getting a little worried that I will never lose the weight.

Here is an example of what I ate yesterday:

Lunch: Lean cusine Orange Chicken 9 oz and 270 cal

Dinner: 1 pork chop with shake and bake and green beans with vinager

Still hungery a couple of hours later:

5 oz cheesebuger with katchupo and garlic,

homemade with no bun

Today I had one soft taco with cheese, and a little extra meat and I

feel like a pig. I am just SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! worried

that for some reason I will be the one person this doesn't work for.

Any suggestions? Sometimes I feel like just eating salad and nothing

else, but I know that Would not be healthy or wise. Thanks for your

input. Please fell free to e-mail me personally: mrsjdcass@...

HI Jody -

I am 7 weeks out and this only happened to me around

my 4th & 5th week. It seems that you body needs to

catch up to your initinal weight loss. I plateau for

a few weeks. I was very concerned about this. I am

now back to losing again. One thing that also helped

me to break this plateau was drinking more water and

watching my sugar intake.

Good Luck!
