Guest guest
I went to see my surgeon yesterday and spoke with the nurse for a very long time as well. I brought my sister with me as many family and friend have expressed concern with the way I have been eating and losing weight so rapidly since surgery. The nurse explained to my sister that some people with a lower BMI pre-op will lose thier weight rapidly in the beginning. I explained the portion sizes I eat and the nurse said that was normal for this stage after surgery. We did decide that the scale is putting too much stress on me so I have been banned from weighing myself until my next appointment. The nurse said if I can't stand waiting until then, I should come into the office and they will weigh me there. At most I can weigh myself once a month. I am really focusing on my food intake as far as quality food. Besides the scale issue, I really am not doing that bad. It is so hard to stay away from the scale during this time. The problem is that I get too much of a high from big drops and feel too down when there are no drops or even a rise (ugh!). On a much more positive note, I bought some new things last night as all my stuff is getting too big (again). I actually fit into size 14 jeans! The last clothes I bought pre-op were size 24 or 3X. I had to buy a new winter coat and I got a medium! It is a little snug, but I figure it will last me all winter this way. I even bought some new shoes (even though my other ones still fit just fine). I got all the stuff really cheap at a nearby outlet store. The jeans were only $9.00. The same pants in the womens department were $13.00. I sure think it stinks that the stores charge so much more for bigger sizes. Kathy M. DS 7/19/01 213 pre-op don't know weight today, but size 14!
