Guest guest
"It is not yet clear why nuts have this effect... Who cares why nuts have this effect?? Who cares why fruits and vegetables prevent cancer?? WHO CARES why exercise and laughter make people live longer?? Why is so much money going into research as to why these things happen? All you have to do to get an idea of a sensible diet is to look back to what our ancestors ate, you don't have to analyze every last little reason the food helps your body. It just DOES. Whether you look back to your great-great-grandma's generation where everything was home grown on a farm, or back to the stone ages where we were hunters and gatherers, it's plain to see why Americans are so unhealthy. Now can we please use some of that money and fund, say, some LDN studies??*snip*"Apart from salted peanuts at the pub, nuts in sugary cereals or the traditional Christmas selection, nuts have been largely lacking in our diets in the UK," she added.Peanuts aren't nuts. Guest guest
Hi Alyssa Sounds like you needed to get something off your chest! I think my point in posting this was not only to add another confirmation that what we're doing is good, but also to show that there is research ongoing on food - and not only pharmaceuticals. And I, for one, am grateful for this. I believe the researcher's point in mentioning peanuts, along with tree nuts, is that the vast majority of people have no idea there is a difference, that is, that some nuts are actually legumes. Peanuts are the " nut " they come across, and eat, the most - usually in a little bowl on the counter or table of the pub which many people go to a couple of times a week here in the UK - its where you meet up with your friends, or lunch or relax with your work colleagues at the end of the day. Their point was that apart from nuts in unhealthy presentations, people in the UK are missing nuts from their diet, and was hoping that their research might cause them to think about adding them.
