Guest guest
Elle, I don't know a whole lot about this, but I do know I was told not to use time-released meds. I guess stuff doesn't stay in our system long enough for the time-released meds to work. Can you contact your surgeon's office and ask them about it? They should be able to suggest an alternative medication to try. Kathy M.

Guest guest
Hi ho all-elle in oregon here at just about 3 and a half months post op and doing very well except for a couple of things. One has to do with a medication I take for chronic back pain..it's a time release med and sadly there is not much in the way of info as to how WLS effects the absorption. One of the things I am wondering, in my personal research, is how long food stays in our DS stomachs before it is sent thru the pylorus and into the duodenum. How does it compare to a 'normal' stomach? I have to figure that the medication would stay in my stomach for about the same time and perhaps it would account for the lack of pain control I am going thru right now...it's been about 6 weeks since I began noticing more pain and unfortunatly neither my surgeon nor the pain clinic doc had much information on how the DS and OxyContin would work together. Any help appreciated. elle
