Guest guest
I just found out about this group. I have a 3 1/2 yer old son who has been diagnosed with SGA and IUGR. When I was 7 months pregnant an ultra sound showed his growth was slowing. At that time it was not a concern but later when he fell off the curve it became a concern. He started GH (genotropin) in Jan. 2004 (2 1/2 years old). In Oct. 2004 he finally grew enough to be on the curve. There is a whole long story regarding some minor birth defects and failure to thrive but what I really would like to hear from anyone in this group is regarding developmental delays. Dylan hit all of his milestones until around 15 months. He walked at 15 months and then when language should have come it didn't. Just " Dada " . So then we had him evaluated. At 18 months he was evaluated at 9 months as far as language. At 21 months he started speech therapy and a few months later OT and PT. Long story short, we have done ALOT of therapies, diet, DAN! protocol, etc. He is doing very well. He is in a special pre-k program now but we think he will be in regular pre-k next year. (Fingers are crossed). But, does anyone know how these kids do in the long run? Are they always delayed or do they catch up? Dylan has always progressed but not enough to be age appropriate. Anybody have a situation like this? Thanks! Cori
Guest guest
Hi Cori, I am very intrigued by your post because we are still waiting to be parents to a little girl with RSS (Korean adoption, come on Korean gov't!). However, we follow DAN protocol too since my eldest son has autism. Are you giving your son soy milk and rice? What about calories? I am not sure how to feed our new daughter since we are a dairy free home. And I wanted to tell you that I can relate to the 15 month development changes. My email is J21inca@.... Hope to chat with you soon! Hi , new here I just found out about this group. I have a 3 1/2 yer old son who has been diagnosed with SGA and IUGR.
