If you put it in a warm place it will get soft quickly.

Is cococnut oil meant to be hard coz i bought some from a health shop and its pure coconut oil but its rock hard had to u use a knife and a spoon took me 5 minutes to get as much of a teaspoon to add to my smoothie today...It's supposed to be solid at room temperature, but I wouldn't say it's rock hard...is it cold where you live? I can usually scoop mine out easily with a spoon, even though it's solid. ye its always cold in irealnd lol, no i leave it in the fridge coz it say "refrigerate after opening" maybe il just leave it in the cupboard coz it felt more like a workout this morning trying to make my smoothie

I read on Tropical Traditions, I think it was, that coconut oil,

being a tropical product, is shelf stable for quite a long while even

at tropical temperatures (like a couple of years, I think). I

certainly wouldn't worry about it if you live in a cool place!

Mark,Fill a saucepan or bowl 1/2 way up with very hot, but not boiling water. Take the room temperature jar of coconut oil and set it down in the hot water. Leave for a few minutes and it will melt easily.
