Kim,

One thing we have been able to do when Max has had to be NPO for

testing now is give him apple juice up until 6am of the day of the

testing/procedure. I always check with the doctor and explain the

situation. He/She usually says that some clear juice is okay up to 4

hours in advance of the procedure. I would check with the doctor to

see if this is possible for . He should not need D10 if he

does not have ketones at the time of the test and seems to be

feeling okay. But, again, check with the doctor. I don't know how

responds to IVs and fasting. Max usually does okay with

this routine.
