I would love to hear/ see those responses as that is exactly the boat

I am in! My niece is definitely SGA although she also has some of

the characteristics of RSS. My sister will not push a dr to " see " my

niece. Although she is an executive and can be rather brutal in the

workplace she totally takes the " wait and see " attitude with my

niece. Even when she sees the pictures of her with my daughter (18

months older) and she doesn't even come up to her shoulder or my

middle son (11 months younger) up to his chin or the next one dowm

(39 months younger) he is one inch taller! How do you get these

people to take the blinders off!! I live in CO and she lives in AZ;

she lived in NJ when she was being accused of not feeding her as a

baby - makes me so mad now!!!!

Hi,

Just my opinion (for what t is worth), I think you need to sit down

and have a face to face frank talk with you sister. Bring some

evidence. Show her the photgraphs (or better yet the kids all lined

up). Also, if you can get heights and weights, plot them on a growth

chart and show her that while explaining her daughter's slow growth.

Ask her to only take her to a specialist (pediatric endocrinologist)

to have soem tests to make sure everything is OK. Make it clear that

you are only concerned about your niece's growth rate and not your

sister's parenting.

If she isn't convined after that, then I think you might have to just

let it drop.

I hope this helps.

Hey Ken,

This is probably one of the wisest things you've written on our

listserve!!! And, I might add, a simple little lesson to think about

when any of us are giving each other advice! Thanks!
