Guest guest
Hi, From time to time I get emails or calls from people who are not the main caretakers of an RSS child: grandparents, uncles, aunts, ex- spouses, concerned friends, teachers, etc. They are sometimes frustrated over what they perceive as a lack of attention to diagnosis or treatment of an RSS child by the parent. If you think you are--or were-- in that category, I'm looking for hints/suggestions that you would offer to these folks. (EXAMPLES of specific concerns: child never taken to a specialist, inattention to feeding or calories, lack of compliance with GHT schedule, parent seeming to be in denial, parent too depressed to help the child, disagreements over treatment, parent not able to use internet, parent wanting to 'wait and see' if child grows on his/her own, etc....). How did you overcome obstacles to convincing a parent or caretaker todeal with RSS? Without having Dr. Phil :-) on hand to help out, what else would you suggest? You can post here or write me privately: rss2katy@... I'm going to collate your responses so that I can be ready to share your insights with others who contact me in the future--I'll also post in our files section on the lisserve website! tHANKS, kATY
