Guest guest
Hey , What gets me even more peeved, is when you try to TELL physicians what the child needs (from previous experience!), and they IGNORE YOU! is severely hypo-g. He can drop as many as 30 BS points in 30 minutes off feeds, depending on his activity levels. We've had to discuss this with several of B's specialists, and they generally blow us off. His Urologist wanted us to place B on Pedialyte for several hours before surgery, and when we told him that experience has shown it won't hold his BS, he looked at us with total disbelief! The last time he was in the hospital for vomiting (Nov), they put him on a D5 IV instead of D10, claiming that it would work just fine. His BS was taken every hour, and sat between 50s-60s for 24 hours with the Drs claiming that there was no need to change his IV, that this was " normal " !! Even the combination of Pedialyte and D5 wouldn't raise his BS, but the DRs weren't worried. He didn't get back into " his " normal range until they added his formula back into the mix! You would think the Drs would have more respect for our experience, but they don't.
