Guest guest
, The formula to predict potential height without growth hormone is based on the parent's height. I checked my notes from the last 2 conventions & they differ slightly in the calculation, so I am not sure which is right. Since I don't want to give you wrong information, maybe someone else has this info. It has something to do with adding and/ or subtracting 5 " from parents' heights depending on gender & then dividing result. As far as the bone age goes, it would be ideal for you to have it done prior to seeing Dr. H & then taking it with you, so she can read it for a 2nd opinion. Does have alocal endo who can write a prescription for this? Guest guest
Determination of final adult height is based on their current growth percentile. The vast majority of children will track on a curve parallel to one of the percentiles on the normal CDC growth curve. You would then follow that same curve all the way out to 18 yrs of age, and that gives you a good idea. You can't multiple the growth per year, because a normal child grows about 2 inches a year from about age 4-prepubertal, and then it all changes. You can also take an RSS girl's growth curve from MAGIC, plot your daughter on that, draw a line and see where her " curve " is naturally falling. THen follow that curve all the way out to 18 years of age, and it will give you a good prediction. The RSS chart is better because we all have to keep in mind that anything can change if your child is one that develops early adrenarche or early puberty. Hope this helps explain it.
