Went to get Luke's helmet fitted yesterday and his results for brachy are:

Cephalic Ratio: .975, Cranial Vault: 4.5. He'll be 5 months on 4/8/09, so I'm

praying that he'll have a bunch of growth spurts and good progress will be made

within the 3-4 months of helmet wearing.

The orthotist said that his measurements aren't too bad. Is that true? I'm not

sure what is " good " and " bad " , all I know is that he is above the deviation for

the norm and that a lot of brachy kids start over 100.

My husband and I were pretty torn up about the whole banding thing. But this

group has helped me tremendously in educating myself on the " what if's " . I was

really emotional when I got home, but I have about 2 weeks to get used to the

idea and I do believe that any improvement is worthwhile in the long run.

One concern I have is that if Luke graduates in 3-4 months, will there be a

chance for his brachy to come back? Especially since he is a die hard sleeper on

the back of his head even though I have been repositioning him for the past

month. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prevent this? He'll be 7 or

8 months by then, so he'll be sitting up by himself during the day and possibly

sleeping on his stomach. But is there anything that I can do for the 3-4 months

of band wearing to help prevent a future occurrence?

Thank you!
