Guest guest
I'm starting to worry about the idea of totally abstaining from sugar for 12-18 months after surgery. Does the following daily intake of sugar seem unreasonable to any of you? That is, does anyone think that this intake SHOULD hinder my weight loss? 1-2 Tbs. sugar (I really like sweet hot tea) 1/2 cup orange juice (diluted with 1/2 cup water) 2 little cookies at night, maybe a 3-4 Tbs. of ice cream Thanks,
Guest guest
I never heard that you have to abstain from sugar. Nonsense!! You need to get protein in first, then complex carbs, then simple (which includes your sugar) My first week post op, Dr.B as a standard has everyone on clear liquids. So I lived on popcicles, sweet tea, orange juice ect... The next week it was anything soft that I didn't have to chew very much. Ice cream, eggs, mashed potatoes, mushy cooked vegetables. Then week 3--I could do what ever I tolerated. After the majority of surgical healing is done--you have to prioritize protein--but you don't have to eliminate sugar. The only thing that you should abstain from is alcohol for the first year, as it is too hard on the liver--with all the weight loss. Hope this helps you!!
