Guest guest
Regarding Depression and Medication " That's great advice, Chris. I, too am on antidepressants. Prior to that, I once crashed and stayed in bed for 4 days, crying and not opening the door, or taking calls! Thru a combination of talk therapy and meds I have come to the place where I now get out and go to the art things, and ride my bike out in public! Yesterday was an occasion that would have daunted me other times. I went to an all day art event in L.A., driving and taking bus tours to different studios all day. My back hurts after about 10 minutes of standing, and a single obese person may tend to stand out in the crowd. However, I have taken that step advised by the shrink several years ago by my request for this surgery, and also been able to dress myself and look nice because of the combination of meds, support, and therapy. Granted, I was a little insecure about finding a single seat for myself, and sure wished I could sit on the plastic folding chair without fear of breaking it. But, I went out in public, with myself. Some of my friends say they couldn't go to dinner by themselves! I also encourage you to have a professional give you the once over on depression and meds if you feel that is appropriate. For some people, it makes the difference between surviving and living. It's worth looking into, Tara. Lydia said to Tara.. " In fact part of that new treatment of myself was going for the surgery. And all this was due to my little yellow and white pills! LOL I'm pre-op and still don't go out much because of my weight, but I now WANT to go out. I don't worry about still being reclusive, because the feeling is different now. And I so look forward to my new life after surgery! I remember how much fun I used to have, and I will have it again. I'll do the things I've wanted to do for the past 15 years. I can't wait!!
