Guest guest
Some insurance companies will stimpulate in thei contract they don't cover GH unless it the child has been diagnosed with a medical conditon that requires it and has prooven a necessity to have it. Our insurcance recenlty changed to this last May and it cause all kinds of problmes for a mom I know whose chil isn't RSS, and technically passed the Stimulation test (barely), but his growth curve and bone age are 2.5 deviations below the curve and he is well below the 5%. They ended up allowing him to have it only because the family got thier request for the drug was dated in May of 2004 2 weeks prior to the change, even though they didn't receive the request untiul June. It took her 4 weeks tro fight this abttle with the insurance company. Alot of companies are changing policies because as you all know it is soo darn expensive. Jay Mom to almost 6 Mathieu 2 24# and 31 " Tonya is correct. If a medical doctor deems it medically necessary for a child to have gh, then the insurance company will pay for it. That does not mean it will be without some sort of conflict. For example, when my husband changed jobs, we had new insurance and they denied his gh which he had been taking since he was almost 3. They said he was not showing good enough growth on it, so they did not want to pay. Dr. H. convinced them that he needed it and they now pay for everything - including the syringes and alcohol swabs!
