Guest guest
, Quick question ...I am also going to see an RNY doc locally (if I can ever get in!!), and the reason I'm seeing one is so that I can have my DS with Dr. Hess ... haha ... I need something to kick Cigna in the ass to get them to let me go out of network for the DS rather than stay in-network with an RNY. I thought that if an RNY doc would see me, agree that FOR ME, the DS is better, then Cigna couldn't refuse the request for authorization for out of network benefits. My question is ... How did you broach your RNY guy? Should I tell him up front what I'm doing? What's the best way to get him to see my point and be willing to back my decision to Cigna? Any input would be appreciated!! Guest guest
Hi, Donna! This is what I would say to your RNY guy: I've heard such great things from (find people!) so and so about what an excellent surgeon you are. (Try to find something specific about him and what he does). I was completely unwilling to let anyone else do my WLS except for you. But then I became so scared about the complications like ulcers and dumping that I decided just to check out what the D/S was all about. This D/S is really better for me because I already have heartburn issues (and ulcer history? and family history of bad ulcers?) and I am scared to death of dumping because I know what a severe hypoglycemic reaction feels like--it makes me panic! I know that the nutritional deficiences can be more apt to occur with this surgery, but I am totally dedicated to taking my vitamins (say something here that's specific and shows how much you know about supplementation and similar issues being present with the RNY anyway, etc.) So, since you don't do the D/S, I'm thinking that I might go to Dr. Hess, although I really wanted to stay here with you. Problem is my insurance. They all seem to know who you are and what you do. If I had a letter or even a verbal willingness from you to support that D/S is best for me, I wouldn't continue having these insurance problems; I know that they'd approve me. I know that you're busy and that I'm asking of you a favor even though I'm not using you as my surgeon, but please help me with this! Hope this helps! > , > > Quick question ...I am also going to see an RNY doc locally (if I can ever > get in!!), and the reason I'm seeing one is so that I can have my DS with > Dr. Hess ... haha ... > > I need something to kick Cigna in the ass to get them to let me go out of > network for the DS rather than stay in-network with an RNY.
