Guest guest
I just started our son on the sample of DMG actually I am on the second liquid sample. He would not take it just off the spoon so it too got put in his Vances Milk in the morning. Though one time for whatever reason he did not take it so I put it in his unsweetned applesauce (which I wish I could get him off of) but he will not eat the pear sauce I made him. Dang it! LOL Needs recipes for pear sauce usage too. ANYWAY.... I am wondering what the difference is with the TMG my one lady friend who also has her son on the TMG said I should of tried that one. Well is it too late now? I do not really see that much difference in Gavin. The first two days he had EXCELLENT bowel movements the kind you just drop out into the potty. NEVER has he ever had that before. Now the last few days they have not been like that. So I am not sure. He is signing now and he did not do that before. So I am not sure that is the DMG that has made him understand the ABA therapists better or not. This is all so hard. To know what works and what does not. He is alleric to yeast and we got him on the gfcf diet. He is also on Magnesium, Calcuim, Zinc, Nystantin, Acidophis and a homepathic anti fungal remedy. Anyway if anyone can tell me what they use and if you can tell a difference I would be very grateful. Guest guest
Cindy, DMG is Dimethylglicyne, while TMG is Trimethylglycine. It means TMG has one extra methyl group. You should check the kirkman's website for that information. I also use DMG, and I just read your other post below. I give my son who is 4.9 yo, 4 capsules of DMG a day in the am, with extra folic acid for hyperness prevention (LOL); the DMG comes in the form with added folic acid and B12, but I came up with this solution after many trials and it worked out just fine. You have put him on it not for very long; I would keep at it, and as a suggestion, give it a month or so, then stop it for a week, and see the difference of him w/o: it will amaze you. I did that three times with my son, and I can tell you he is a different person w/o the DMG: it is like if it brings the best of him out to the surface. I do believe DMG helps focusing better among other stuff. Some say it improves speech radically, but I did not see that. I also tried TMG for a while, but I had the feeling that even with the extra folic acid, it was making him more hyper, so I went back to the DMG; but you can try it: TMG " turns " into DMG when it gives its third methyl group. So you should have the same benefits. For giving supplements, if you are using the liquid forms, and he cannot swallow capsules, I suggest the use of a siringe bulb, like the one they give you at the counter with your medications That's what I did for quite a bit until I got tired and " taught " him how to swallow pills. Anyway, If you are putting it into his applesauce, make sure you are not doing it w/o him seeing you doing so, b/c my son would not eat his ice cream for a while when he figured out I was giving him calcium in it (now I do not make it a secret: he sees me putting calcium in his baked goods and/or foods, and he is fine with it, as long as I am not trying to hide it. I just have to say : eat it. And he does (thank God!). Well, hope this is exaustive. Cristina-WA Proud mom to , 4.9 yo ASD, & 2.1 yo NT twins.
