Guest guest
Amy, Because this is a safety issue, I wouldn't allow guilt, or empathy for Abby's feeling, to rule your decision. We were told that Aidan couldn't go to the booster seat with the adult seat belt until her shoulders were higher that the highest setting for the 5-point harness. The adult seat belt will not fit properly across the child until then. We were told to make sure she was positioned in the car seat correctly when we measured her. We were also told to leave her in the 5-point harness until she was as close to 40# as possible. Aidan turned 4 at the end of July, and just moved to the car seat with the adult seat belt in the last month. She's still not 40# (32# and 36 " ), but her shoulders are more than two inches over the highest settings for the harness, and the Ped told (Aidan's mom) that it was more detrimental to Aidan's safety having the harness not fitting properly. Hope this helps! Pat (g-ma to , RSS, 3 yrs old, 23.5# (10.7kg), 32.8 " (83.3cm), G-Tube, and Aidan, 4 yr old, Non-RSS but tiny for her age!)
