Guest guest
I reread my posting and I may have misphrased something. I don't think that Dr. H thinks that the current FDA amount is too high overall; just that her perspective is why START that high ... she would rather START as low as possible and see if she can just as good of an increased growth velocity out of a lower dose, which then allows her plenty of room to gradually increase the dosages up over the years that the child is on GH therapy, to maximize height growth. So if she starts around .20 -- that gives lots of room to inch up to .48. This is also why, however, that if you see Dr. H, that she is adamant that your child be seen every 3 months. As the RSS/SGA child's body is GH insufficient, it often will, I don't how else to say this, it will get " used " to the GH dosage; so when growth flattens out again, the physician then inches the dosage up a bit.
