Guest guest
Hi all, Went to a new doc and the SCD was recommended - I had tried this diet before (over a year ago) but had wound up in the hospital after about a week on it (not due to the diet itself but just everything overall) I am in the intro phase for 2 days (I did add eating soft bananas with the intro foods) and while I am not having a particularly difficult time with it (tired and a bit headachy) I am losing more weight (I am already underweight and really can't afford to lose any more) and I do not see any change in my bowel function and bleeding I know we are supposed to go into phase 1 after some change is noted but if no change is noted do you start to increase the foods anyway??? I must get calories into me! I will call doc and nutritionist on Monday but thought I might get some helpful info from you folks Thanks
Guest guest
You only do the intro 2-5 days so I would start adding foods in. They have stages on www.pecanbread.com but they are just general guidelines. Anything legal in the book is allowed. Nut flours, peanuts, pork rinds and dried beans are considered pretty advanced. Everything should be peeled, seeded and cooked (vegetables and fruit). Have you tried yogurt yet? I started in December 05 and still did a hospital stay early the next year to get a blood transfusion and they pumped me up on steroids and antibiotics. When you start out that bad, you just do what you have to while starting the diet. You may have to journey through the effects of all that but start SCD anyway slowly. Start trying easy foods, the kid recipes at pecanbread seem easy and good. Banana pancakes, bone stock, butternut fries, pumpkin pie filling--if any of that is tolerated. Hope you feel better soon. Making yogurt with half n half is another good weight gainer.
