Guest guest
Hi. I'm actually in the final stage for getting insurance approval, but I'm having 2nd thoughts about my surgeon. His surgeries have been temporarily stopped and patients have had their surgeries cancelled. He is such a nice man, and seems so kind, but, he is leery of doing the DS. He suggested I have a distal RNY that would give me benefits of DS, but not the problems with dumping the proximal RNY poses. Also, I wanted to have lap, and he's suggesting I have open. I tried to convince myself that the distal RNY would be great, but I just think the DS makes more sense for me. I have a heart condition, and I'm sure that was a factor in the Dr's determination, but I also think he may not be as experienced in lap and/or DS. I live in Greensboro area. I'm thinking of changing surgeons to Dr. Grant for several reasons, including the fact that Duke has a excellent track record for lap surgeries. I'm interested in finding out about Dr. Grant, and what insurance you had when you had the DS. I currently have BCBS fed plan, but it looks like they are making a drastic overhaul of the federal plan, so I'm looking at other plans. I'd appreciate any assistance you can give me
