I hope not!!!! Wouldn't you have the same rxn as you do when you consume MSG? I haven't noticed any headaches from guar or carageean-oops, forget the spelling. Guest guest
All I know is whenever I get MSG I get a headache, shaky, sleepy, food cravings and sometimes faint. Since I have completely eliminated it from my diet, I can tell within and hour when I get it. Just the smell of it sometimes gives me a headache (I hate driving by KFC). I have never reacted to guar gum or carrageenan. > I was just at the health food store, and this is what one of the > employees there told me: > > Guar Gum is sometimes used in place of MSG; also, sometimes MSG itself is > labeled as guar gum as an interchangeable label. > > Carrageenan (seaweed derivative) is a natural source of MSG. > > She seemed quite knowledgeable.
