Guest guest
A few months ago when I complained about not being able to get my 3 yo son to take his supplements the recommendation I got was to sit on him until he took it. At first I was hestitant to do this for fear of starting a rage that might last an hour. When we began chelation on my son I knew I could not put it in his milk and hope he drank it (too expensive and too stressful!). I decided to try the " sit on " method. I put his supplements in an oral syringe with some Torani syrup. With the syringe in one hand and a treat in the other I approached him. I don't know if it was the crazed look in my eyes or what, but he just opened his mouth and took it. It worked so well, I started giving him his cod liver oil the same way. Every once in a while he resist, but I'm just persistent and he takes it. I shower him with praise and now I use his Kirkman's chewable Vitamin C as his reward. Guest guest
Dawn... Ive had to do the same thing with my son with any kinds of meds or vitamins he has taken in the past.. but we did have to resort to sitting on him... it was a nightmare... Im so happy to read you didnt have to go thru all of that. For all those wondering how to do it, sitting on a kid really wont hurt them tho it can and often does cause a fit and a fight and I dont know about your kids, but when angry or upset mine has the strength of about 10 kids... my way was to straddle him with his arms flat against his body and my knees around his head... this gave me my arms free to hold his mouth open and put the syringe in and squeeze the meds into his mouth... as far in the back as you can will avoid getting the meds spit back at you. A treat as a reward is best to ahve on hand... after a while my son got used to taking things and does much better now. I hope this helps anyone who is at their wits end with giving vitamins and suppliments. Triss
