Guest guest
Hi , I had two of my 4 kids on Ritalin, both used the time-released formulas, as well as the regular 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg tablets. They didn't have Ritalin LA at the time, and I'm not sure what LA stands for. The effect on their behavior was almost immediate. 's teacher called me the second day he was using Ritalin to ask me if we had decided to put him on meds! This doesn't mean that they didn't still act like normal, annoying kids, but the hyper-activity was definitely better, and it was really apparent that they could concentrate and stay on task. Time-released usually means that it will last an entire 8-12 hour period, not that the med has an accumulative affect, or that you need to use it for days, for it to start working. If I were you, I would talk to his Dr, and see how long she thinks it should take for you to see some difference, no matter how small, in behavior, and what you should be watching for. Hope this helps. Pat (g-ma to , RSS, 3 yrs old, 23.5# (10.7kg), 32.8 " (83.3cm), G-Tube)
